Thane MACT grants Rs 54.62 lakh compensation in fatal 2021 road accident case

The Thane Motor Accident Claims Tribunal has awarded Rs 54.62 lakh compensation to the family of an AC technician killed in a 2021 truck accident. The insurer has been directed to pay the amount and later recover it from the transport company for violating insurance policy terms

The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Thane has awarded a compensation of Rs 54.62 lakh to the family of a technician killed in a road accident involving a rashly driven truck in 2021.

According to PTI, MACT member RV Mohite, in the order passed on June 6, directed the truck's insurer to pay the compensation to the claimants. Mohite also passed an order stating that the complainant should subsequently recover the amount from a transport company owning the vehicle due to a breach of insurance terms.
