Western Railway to operate 30-day block for 6th line work between Kandivali and Borivali in Mumbai

Western Railway has announced a major 30-day block in connection with the construction of the 6th line between Kandivali and Borivali in Mumbai, from the night of December 20/21, 2025, and continuing until January 18, 2026.

Several suburban and long-distance trains will be affected during this period.


According to a press release issued by Western Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Vineet Abhishek, a major non-interlocking block will be undertaken for the commissioning of an electronic interlocking (EI) panel at Borivali on the UP and DOWN fast lines from 1 am to 7 am on December 27/28 (Saturday/Sunday), 2025.



During the block, some UP Mail and Express trains will skip their halt at Borivali Station. In addition, Borivali Station platforms 8 and 9 will remain suspended until December 29, 2025. Due to the block, suspension of the 5th line, and closure of platforms 8 and 9, several suburban services will be cancelled, while some Borivali and Andheri suburban trains will operate only up to Goregaon on the Harbour line.

Train cancellations

Train No 69174 Dahanu Road – Borivali MEMU will remain cancelled for journey commencing on 28th December, 2025.

Halt skippages

Several Mail and Express trains will skip their halt at Borivali and instead stop at Vasai Road and/or Andheri stations. These include:

19038 Barauni–Bandra Terminus Express (December 26)

22946 Okha–Dadar Express (December 27)

22904 Bhuj–Bandra Terminus Express (December 27)

09052 Bhusaval–Dadar Special (December 27)

22928 Ahmedabad–Bandra Terminus Express (December 27)

12928 Ekta Nagar–Dadar Express (December 27)

Short termination/origination

Some trains will terminate or originate from Vasai Road or Dahanu Road instead of Borivali. These include:

19426 Nandurbar–Borivali Express (December 27)

19418 Ahmedabad–Borivali Express (December 27)

69139 Borivali–Valsad Express (December 28)

19417 Borivali–Ahmedabad Express (December 28)

19425 Borivali–Nandurbar Express (December 28)

Rescheduled trains

Several trains, including Bandra Terminus–Gorakhpur Express, Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad Express, Mumbai Central–Gandhinagar Capital Express, and Bandra Terminus–Surat Express, will be rescheduled by 50 minutes to two hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Western Railway said detailed lists of cancelled and curtailed suburban services have been provided in annexures. Authorities added that further repercussions on suburban services will be notified in due course. Efforts are being made to ensure there are no unusual cancellations on December 31 to facilitate New Year celebrations.
