The Western Railway on Thursday announced the temporary closure of staircases at Nallasopara and Naigaon stations near Mumbai from Sunday, owing to ongoing construction and expansion work on Foot overbridges (FOBs).
According to an official release, the additional north and south (secondary) legs of the double-discharge staircase of the FOB on Platform No 1 at Nallasopara station will remain closed from Sunday as work progresses on the provision of a deck and extension of the bridge. Commuters have been advised to use the main staircase on the northern side during this period.
Similarly, at Naigaon Station, the staircase of the south FOB on Platform No 1 will be shut from the same date due to ongoing extension and construction work. An alternate staircase on the north side will continue to remain accessible for passengers.
The Western Railway has appealed to commuters to plan their travel accordingly and has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused during the construction phase.
