Loss-making NMMT attracts passengers with promises of courteous drivers and conductors
They say good manners never fail to impress and officials of the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) are putting it into practice. Their politeness drive is attracting more passengers to AC buses on the Bandra-Belapur route.

The route, which was started in mid-July, initially drew only 1,600 passengers per day against the expected 5,000.
Deciding to curb their overall losses of around Rs 55 to 60 lakh every month, NMMT hit upon the idea of giving special training in good manners to their drivers and conductors on the route.

Once the politeness initiative came into effect on September 1, the route has been seeing 4,500 passengers every day.
