A Delhi-bound Air India flight from San Francisco was forced to make a precautionary landing in Mongolia's capital Ulaanbaatar due to a suspected technical issue.
The airline said that the Boeing 777 aircraft, operating flight AI174 on November 2 via Kolkata, landed safely and is currently undergoing necessary technical checks.
Air India said that it was working closely with its partners to assist all passengers and ensure they reach their destination as soon as possible.
Details regarding the number of passengers onboard were not disclosed.
In an official statement, an airline spokesperson said, "AI174 of 02 November, operating from San Francisco to Delhi via Kolkata, made a precautionary landing at Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, after the flight crew suspected a technical issue en route. The aircraft landed safely at Ulaanbaatar and is undergoing the necessary checks. We are working closely with our partners to support all passengers while we make efforts to get everyone on their way to the destination at the earliest opportunity. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers due to the unforeseen situation. At Air India, the safety of passengers and crew remain top priority."
TIRUN Travel Marketing, Air India partner to launch seamless Fly-Cruise holidays
Meanwhile, Cruise aggregator TIRUN Travel Marketing on Monday said it has partnered with Air India to introduce integrated packages combining flights and cruises, reported the PTI.
This partnership, which commenced in November, will offer Indian travellers a seamless journey connecting Air India and Air India Express flights with cruise holidays from the TIRUN portfolio, the company said in a statement.
Initially, under this partnership domestic and international flight connections will be integrated with cruise itineraries to destinations such as Singapore and Hong Kong, and it will later expand to Sydney, Los Angeles, and destinations across Europe, TIRUN Travels said, according to the PTI.
