Himanta Biswa Sarma likely to resign after NDA’s sweeping victory in Assam

Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to meet Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya and submit his resignation after NDA’s landslide win in the Assam Assembly Elections. The alliance secured 102 of 126 seats, paving the way for formation of a new government

After clinching a massive victory in the Assam state assembly election, BJP leader and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is likely to meet the governor on Wednesday and submit his resignation, paving the way for the formation of a new government, an official source told news agency PTI.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Sarma said that he will call on Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya once the election results are officially submitted to the latter.
