Pic/Sachin Thakare Economic slump &ldquo;Till last year, students were able to take up three job offers and choose any one from them. But as the market conditions is worst and rupee continues to depreciate, this year we adopted the single job policy,&rdquo; CoEP Placement Officer Sandeep Meshram said. Until last year, the companies were segregated either on core or bulk recruitments and dream recruitment, if an MNC approached the college. But this year student would no longer have the option of choosing firms form any of the three categories. &ldquo;As per directions from NASCOM, no bulk recruitments will be done before September 10. So we are inviting companies making recruitment in core engineering areas,&rdquo; Meshram said. &ldquo;This year we are starting the placement drive a little late. Reports we are getting from other engineering colleges in the city are not encouraging. The number of MNCs has decreased and those approaching colleges are hardly recruiting students. Despite a poor market, last year we succeeded in ensuring that about 80 per cent students got recruited through campus drive. But this year looks very difficult.&rdquo; As the job offers after graduation seems to be depleting, due to not so good market conditions, it seems that the bygone trend of doing management studies after engineering has returned at the CoEP. &ldquo;It is quite surprising. But our records state that as many as 56 students have taken admissions in IIMs&rsquo; to pursue management studies after BE in the last couple of years,&rdquo; CoEP Director Dr A D Sahasrabuddhe said.
