Defence Ministry seals deal to procure ASTRA Mk-I missile system

According to an official statement issued by the ministry, the technology to manufacture missiles of this class indigenously was not available till now

The Defence Ministry signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for the supply of ASTRA MK-I Beyond Visual Range (BVR) Air to Air Missile (AAM) and associated equipment for the Indian Air Force and Indian Navy at a cost of Rs 2,971 crore under Buy (Indian-IDDM) category.

According to an official statement issued by the ministry, the technology to manufacture missiles of this class indigenously was not available till now.
