At a time when technology is pervading every aspect of life, the state transport department is also hoping to go the tech-savvy way. Officials have launched a new internal website, which will maintain all records, track important details and also maintain a comparative analysis of the work by all Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in the state.

Currently, the department has begun trial runs of the website — web.rto.com where all data pertaining to the Pune, Kolhapur and Nashik is being fed into the system. Data related to all sections such as revenue, flying squads, border check-post work, new registration, issuance of learning licences and permit department will be uploaded on the website. Officials said that if the trial went off successfully, then the project would be launched within a month's time across all RTOs in the state.
