<p>Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/hmpv-outbreak-not-a-new-virus-identified-in-2001-says-union-health-minister-23460120" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda</a> on Friday reviewed the preparedness of the country&rsquo;s health infrastructure.&nbsp;</p>
<p>According to the news agency PTI, the minister assessed the readiness of hospitals and medical facilities across India in the event of an emergency.</p>
<p>During the high-level meeting, senior officials from the Health Ministry briefed Minister Nadda on the status of healthcare infrastructure. They confirmed that real-time monitoring is being carried out from a centralized control centre to ensure swift response and coordination if needed.<br />Sources cited by PTI said that Nadda and his team evaluated the availability of resources, emergency medical services, and hospital response capabilities across the nation.</p>
<p>The review follows <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbaikars-react-to-operation-sindoor-and-abhyas-23537527" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Operation Sindoor</a>, a recent strategic mission launched by the Indian Army targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The operation aimed to dismantle militant camps responsible for planning and executing attacks on Indian soil. According to official reports, nine such camps were successfully destroyed.</p>
<p>Operation Sindoor was reportedly a direct response to the<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/pahalgam-terror-attack-nia-urges-people-to-share-information-regarding-attack-shares-phone-numbers-23537129" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"> Pahalgam terror attack</a> on April 22, 2025, in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists&mdash;25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.</p>
<p>As tensions continue to mount, the Indian armed forces have intensified operations, striking militant infrastructure across Pakistan and PoJK. These actions have triggered heightened security and preparedness measures across various government sectors, including healthcare.</p>
<p>In line with the central government's directives, Minister Nadda&rsquo;s review seeks to ensure that India's health system is fully equipped to handle any medical emergencies that may arise if hostilities escalate further.<br />Earlier today, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh conducted a review of the country's current security situation at South Block, which houses the Ministry of Defence, in the national capital, in the aftermath of the foiled large-scale drone strike by Pakistan.</p>
<p>The Defence Minister was accompanied by the military top brass and senior officials, including Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, and Defence Secretary RK Singh.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Indian Army, during the intervening night of May 8 and May 9 successfully repelled and responded to multiple drone attacks by Pakistan along the western border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.</p>
<p>"Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The drone attacks were effectively repulsed and a befitting reply was given to the CFVs. Indian Army remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded to with force," the Indian Army said.</p>
