India is likely to experience below-normal rainfall and warmer-than-average temperatures across much of the country in September, according to the latest monthly climate outlook issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD has forecast that rainfall across India as a whole is most likely to remain below 91 per cent of the Long Period Average (LPA). The LPA for September is 167.9 mm, based on rainfall data from 1971 to 2020.
