IndiGo Trichy-Singapore flight returns after mid-air technical snag

An IndiGo flight from Tiruchirappalli Trichy to Singapore carrying 127 passengers returned to Trichy International Airport on Friday after developing a technical problem in midair reported the ANIThe aircraft which took off from Trichy at around 640 pm remained in the air for nearly two and a half hours before safely returning to the airportAccording to Airport Director Gopalakrishnan the aircraft developed the technical issue after takeoff and began circling over the area the news agency reportedAirport officials stayed in continuous contact with the pilots while preparations were made for the aircraft to return safelyThe flight remained airborne for about two and a half hours during which it reduced its fuel before making the landingSafe landing at Trichy airportThe aircraft landed safely at Trichy International Airport at around 9 pmAccording to the ANI Gopalakrishnan said the necessary arrangements had been made at the airport to ensure a safe landing Airport authorities also coordinated with the flight crew throughout the incidentThere were no reports of injuries among the 127 passengersAlternative flight arrangedAn alternative flight was arranged for the passengers according to the airport authorities as per the ANIAll 127 passengers will be accommodated on the alternate aircraft and flown to SingaporeThe incident caused a delay to the passengers journey but the aircraft was able to return safely to Trichy after the technical problem was detectedIndiGo booking system faces brief outageIndiGo airlines briefly faced technical problems with its ticket booking system on Friday affecting access to some of its online servicesThe airline acknowledged the issue on its website and said teams were working with its technology partner to restore normal operationsIn a message posted on its website IndiGo said it was experiencing intermittent problems with its core reservation platformThe issue meant that some customers could face difficulties while accessing the airlinersquos online services including its booking platformIndiGo said its teams were working on priority to resolve the problem and apologised to passengers for the inconvenience causedServices restored airline saysAn airline official later confirmed that the technical issue had been resolved and that the reservation system was functioning normallyIndiGo uses the Navitaire reservation system for its operationsThe brief disruption came just two days after the airline reported a similar issue with its core reservation platform on WednesdaySecond booking issue in the same weekOn Wednesday IndiGo had informed customers through a post on X that it was facing intermittent problems with the reservation systemThe recurrence of the technical issue within a few days comes as the airline continues to operate one of the largest flight networks in the countryIndiGo currently operates around 2200 flights every day connecting passengers to destinations across India and internationallyThe airline carried around 8082 lakh passengers on domestic routes in July according to the figures cited in the reportIts domestic market share stood at 674 per cent during the month underlining its dominant position in Indias aviation sectorwith ANI and PTI inputs
