A wave of shock and disbelief reigned Sassoon hospital yesterday after a ward boy found a loaded revolver outside the prisoners ward on the hospital premises. Ganesh Jadhav found the &lsquo;Made in England&rsquo; revolver near the main entrance of psychiatric department building, which also houses the newly formed prisoners ward. <img alt="" src="http://images.mid-day.com/2013/jan/Gun123.jpg" style="width: 500px; height: 317px;" /> Representation Pic &ldquo;I was leaving for home around 10.30 am, and walked towards my motorcycle. As the air pressure in the bike&rsquo;s rear tyre was a bit low, I bend down to check it. That&rsquo;s when I saw a plastic bag lying nearby. D G Kulkarni, superintendent of Sassoon hospital, said, &ldquo;The police have done the panchnama of the spot.&rdquo; When asked about the security in the hospital, Kulkarni said, &ldquo;As so many people visit the hospital everyday, the miscreant may have taken advantage of the crowd and had threw it here.&rdquo; When contacted, officials from Bund Garden police station said that they have registered a case against an unidentified person under the relevant sections of the Arms Act. U N Sonawane, senior PI, said, &ldquo;We rushed to the spot as soon as Jadhav called us and have seized the revolver.&rdquo; Conspiracy to kill? According to a police officer, it&rsquo;s quite possible that somebody had brought the revolver to kill a prisoner, and may have abandoned it after sighting cops in the vicinity. Several dreaded criminals are brought to the hospital of check-ups regularly. Besides, when prisoners were lodged in the ward for treatment, their relatives and their friends too come to meet them.u00a0The officer, however, clarified that the visitors are allowed to meet the victim only in presence of cops.u00a0 Special 27 Ward No 27, which is also known as prisoners&rsquo; ward, was formed after several prisoners &mdash; including the prime accused in Nayana Pujari rape and murder case &mdash; managed to escape from the hospital.

The made-in-England revolver    ufffd with 3 bullets inside    ufffd was found by a hospital ward boy yesterday morning; as several convicts are brought to the institute for treatment, check-up, cop says it's possible that somebody had brought the firearm to kill a prisoner.
