Maharashtra Amateur Athletic Association's joint secretary Moinuddin Kamaluddin Farooqi has submitted a complaint to Dattawadi police station against Prahlad Madhav Sawant, secretary of the association, alleging that the latter misused funds to the tune of Rs 2.10 crore for personal use
Farooqi has charged that Sawant had the blessings of tainted MP Suresh Kalmadi, who is also president of Pune International Marathon Trust. According to the complaint, Sawant has possession of all bank documents, cheques and record books, and he forcibly obtained signatures of treasurer Rajaram Dinde in 2007 at the Marathon Bhavan on Mitramandal chowk.
“Dinde has acquired a bank statement till September 2013, which revealed that Sawant has misused Rs 2.10 crore of the association. So police need to investigate this case of cheating and criminal conspiracy by Sawant,” Farooqi has stated in his complaint.
