Thane reports four new Covid-19 cases, tally rises to 130

Thane reported four new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases so far to 130, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) said. 

Out of the total, 92 patients have successfully completed five days of home isolation, it said.


The Thane civic body said that at present, 12 patients are admitted to hospitals, and all are in stable condition. Of these, nine are being treated in private hospitals, while three are admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa.



Around 25 patients are currently under home isolation, and their condition is also reported to be stable.

Meanwhile, a total of 86 new coronavirus-positive cases were detected in Maharashtra on Tuesday, taking the number of infections since January 1 this year to 959, the health department said, reported news agency PTI.

Of these patients, 435 have recovered so far, while active cases are 510.

Four patients have died in the state since Monday with Nagpur reporting two deaths, while Chandrapur and Miraj recorded one fatality each, it said.

Of the 86 new Covid-19 positive cases 26 were from Mumbai, 24 from Pune city, 9 from Thane city, 6 from Navi Mumbai, 1 each from Kalyan and Ulhasnagar, 3 from Pimpri Chinchwad, 2 each from Kolhapur and Nagpur and 4 from Sangli, among others, reported PTI.

Of the total number of 509 cases reported in Mumbai since January, 503 were recorded in May alone.

From January, a total of 14 patients in the state have succumbed to the  the viral infection, 13 of whom were suffering from comorbidities.

Earlier in the day, in view of the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in India, the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday said that it has asked states to ensure the availability of oxygen supplies, isolation beds, ventilators, essential medicines and hold preparedness drills.

Several states in India has been witnessing a rise in Covid-19 cases.

According to the health ministry, as of 4 June 2025, India has reported 4,302 active Covid-19 cases, with 864 new cases recorded in the last 24 hours. Most infections are mild and being treated at home. Since the beginning of the year, 44 deaths have been reported, mainly among people with existing health conditions.

An official statement said that a series of technical review meetings were held on June 2 and June 3, led by Dr Sunita Sharma, Director General of Health Services (DGHS). Representatives from the Disaster Management Cell, Emergency Management Response (EMR) Cell, National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), and central government hospitals in Delhi participated. State and Union Territories (UTs) officials also joined the meetings, it said.
