A suspected short circuit in a telecom junction box caused a brief fire and smoke at Pune <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/vande-bharat-train-updates-mumbai-nanded-vande-bharat-train-delayed-by-32-minutes-after-ohe-fault-near-kasara-in-maharashtra-23641869" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Railway Station</a> on Monday afternoon. The situation was quickly brought under control within minutes, with no injuries or damage reported, official said.
Railway staff and the fire brigade responded swiftly to the incident, ensuring the situation was quickly contained.
According to railway authorities, smoke was first noticed at around 3.50 pm from a junction box located above the Signalling and Telecommunication (S&amp;T) Office on Platform No. 1.
The smoke was caused by a suspected short circuit in the electrical system.
<h2>Railway staff act quickly</h2>
Before the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-at-byculla-police-station-in-mumbai-no-injuries-reported-23641700" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">fire brigade</a> arrived, railway staff switched off the main power supply to the affected area and used fire extinguishers to contain the flames.
The fire and smoke were completely extinguished by 3.55 pm, while the power supply to the affected section was isolated as a precaution.
<h2>Fire brigade inspects site</h2>
A fire engine from the Late Dayaram Rajguru Fire Station was dispatched at 3.57 pm to inspect the site.
Firefighters confirmed that <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/indigo-flight-emergency-landing-indigo-mumbai-dubai-flight-makes-emergency-landing-in-rajkot-after-smoke-alert-23641844" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">there was no remaining danger and issued safety instructions</a> before returning to the station.
The operation was led by Acting Station Officer Vijay Chaure, along with driver Omkar Tathe and firefighters Bala Gawhankar, Jayesh Gatade, Sagar Jadhav and Suresh Ghughe.
<h2>No injuries or disruption</h2>
Railway officials said the damaged section was repaired shortly after the incident.
They said that <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/karjat-lonavala-railway-line-disruption-central-railway-extends-train-cancellations-and-diversions-check-details-here-23641437" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">no passengers or staff were injured</a> and no property damage was reported.
The incident did not result in any major disruption to railway operations, officials said.
