A spiritual leader who heads an ashram in Maharashtra's Amravati district has been booked for allegedly repeatedly raping a woman and sexually exploiting her since she was a minor in 2016, police said on Tuesday.
On July 19, the police registered a case against Dattagiri Guru Jairamji Maharaj of Anand Math under Sections 64(2) (rape) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, an official told news agency PTI.
