Maharashtra got its 59th Regional Transport Office (RTO) at Sangli district's Jat.

"Considering the number of vehicle registrations and total population in Jat, Sangli district, it was necessary to establish a separate Sub-Regional Transport Office. Therefore, a new Sub-Regional Transport Office is being started in Jat (named MH- 59)," Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said on Friday.

He added that Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Jat, Gopichand Padalkar, had followed up to start a Sub-Regional Transport Office of the Motor Transport Department in his constituency. Accordingly, the Transport Department has completed the necessary requirements to open an RTO there, Sarnaik said, announcing the government's decision.

"Due to this decision, the residents of Jat taluka, located about 100-120 kilometres away from Sangli, will no longer have to come to the district headquarters for transport-related work. This will save their time, effort and money," Sarnaik added.
