New cremation method to ease air pollution

Pune Municipal Corporation appears dead serious on the issue of air pollution, a point borne out by the fact that the civic body is about to spend Rs 47 lakh to establish an eco-friendly wood gasifier furnace at Kailash crematorium.

Apart from helping keep the environment clean, the new technique will also halve wood consumption at the funeral home. Apart from the traditional method, the PMC has been employing electric, diesel and LPG cremation systems so far.
