Indian crew evacuated from vessel off Oman coast after engine failure; rescue underway

Fourteen Indian crew members aboard the Indian-flagged merchant vessel Virat 1 were evacuated to a life raft after the ship suffered an engine failure off the Oman coast. The Indian Embassy in Muscat said rescue operations are underway under the coordination of Omani authorities

Indian crew members from a commercial vessel off the Oman coast are being evacuated after an engine failure, the Embassy of India in Muscat said on Sunday.

Indian-flagged merchant vessel Virat 1 reportedly had 14 crew members from India, it said.
