Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to four states – Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh – starting Thursday. During the visit, he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several key infrastructure projects in each state.

Sikkim

On Thursday, PM Modi will take part in the ‘Sikkim@50: Where Progress Meets Purpose and Nature Nurtures Growth’ event to mark 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood. The event is a year-long celebration focused on Sikkim’s cultural heritage, natural beauty, and progress.

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for several development projects, including a 500-bedded district hospital in Namchi, worth over Rs 750 crore, a passenger ropeway in Pelling, and a statue of late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok. Additionally, he will release a commemorative coin, souvenir coin, and stamp to mark the milestone.

West Bengal

In West Bengal, PM Modi will visit Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts on Thursday and lay the foundation stone for a City Gas Distribution (CGD) project. The Rs 1,010-crore project aims to supply Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to more than 2.5 lakh households and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to vehicles. This initiative is expected to create employment opportunities while offering environmentally friendly fuel options.

Bihar

Later on Thursday, PM Modi will travel to Bihar, where he will inaugurate the newly constructed terminal of Patna Airport, built at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore. The new terminal has the capacity to handle one crore passengers annually. He will also lay the foundation stone for a new civil enclave at Bihta Airport, which is set to serve as a hub for educational institutions such as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Patna and the proposed National Institute of Technology (NIT), Patna.

On Friday, PM Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation for a series of development projects worth over Rs 48,520 crore in Bihar’s Karakat. Key projects include the Rs 29,930-crore Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project (Stage-2), aimed at improving energy security in Bihar, and significant road infrastructure developments, including the four-laning of Patna–Arrah–Sasaram Road and the six-laning of Varanasi–Ranchi–Kolkata Highway.

He will also dedicate the third rail line between Son Nagar and Mohammad Ganj, worth over Rs 1,330 crore, to the nation. These projects are expected to boost regional connectivity, improve industrial growth, and generate employment.

Uttar Pradesh

On Friday, PM Modi will head to Uttar Pradesh, where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple infrastructure projects worth around Rs 20,900 crore. These projects include the Rs 2,120 crore Chunniganj to Kanpur Central Metro Station section of the metro rail project and a new 660 megawatt thermal power project in Kanpur worth Rs 8,300 crore.

He will also inaugurate key power supply projects, including a 220 kilovolt (kV) substation at the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and several 132 kV substations in Greater Noida. These projects are aimed at meeting the growing energy demands of the region.

In addition to energy and transport projects, Modi will dedicate a 40 MLD (million litres of water per day) Tertiary Treatment Plant in Kanpur, promoting water conservation and sustainable resource management. He will also lay the foundation for several road widening projects that will improve connectivity for the defence corridor in the region.
