Responding to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's tweet alleging that the RSS-BJP prefer Manusmriti over the Constitution, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, “Historically, Rahul is referring to a criticism that was voiced during the time of the Constitution’s adoption. Leaders like M.S. Golwalkar had remarked that one of the Constitution’s biggest shortcomings was its lack of reference to the Manusmriti. So, as a historical statement, it is accurate. However, whether that reflects the RSS’s stance today is uncertain; only the RSS can clarify that. In my view, they seem to have moved on from those positions.”

"The Constitution irks them because it speaks of equality, secularism, and justice," the post added.
"RSS-BJP doesn’t want the Constitution; they want Manusmriti. They aim to strip the marginalised and the poor of their rights and enslave them again. Snatching a powerful weapon like the Constitution from them is their real agenda," Rahul Gandhi stated.
"RSS should stop dreaming this dream – we will never let them succeed. Every patriotic Indian will defend the Constitution until their last breath," he added in the post on X.
Shashi Tharoor exposed Rahul Gandhi: BJP after Congress MP lauds PM Modi
Earlier this week, the BJP took a swipe at the Congress after Congress leader Shashi Tharoor praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP went on to say that the Thiruvananthapuram MP has "exposed" Rahul Gandhi.
