Taking a stand for farmers in the state, opposition party Shiv Sena (UBT) on Wednesday took out a tractor rally in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The aim of the tractor rally was to highlight the "failure" of the Mahayuti government to fulfil promises made to farmers, including crop loan waiver. The rally was attended by prominent Sena (UBT) leaders and the farmers of Maharashtra.

As reported by PTI, the tractor rally was organised under the banner of 'kya hua tera vaada', which means ‘what happened to your promises’. This tractor rally under the campaign named “kya hua tera wada” is said to be a week-long agitation to highlight unfulfilled assurances under the BJP-led administration in the Maharashtra state.

The tractor rally in Maharashtra’s Sambhajinagar is being led by Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Ambadas Danve. As reported by PTI, the rally started from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar’s Kranti Chowk and was at the Divisional Commissioner's office in the Delhi Gate area of the central Maharashtra city.

Talking to the media during the rally, LoP Danve stated, "Tehsil-wise tractor rallies were organised on Wednesday. We are asking the question, 'kya hua tera vaada', to the government for failing to deliver on promises made to farmers during the assembly elections (held in November last year)."

The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader also pointed out that these promises by the BJP-led government included a farm loan waiver and a comprehensive crop insurance scheme, which is not evident as of now.
He further added that "They (Mahayuti) had earlier promised remunerative prices for crops and raised the annual payout to farmers to Rs 15,000 under the Kisan Samman Nidhi. These and other promises remain unfulfilled."

“After making promises, ministers give misleading and evasive statements. 'This means they have forgotten their promises,' Ambadas Danve said.

Addressing the situation, he also said, "Through this agitation, we want to remind the government about its promises and what happened to those assurances."

In another matter, it has also come to light that, on Tuesday, the agricultural department advised farmers in Sambhajinagar district not to undertake sowing for the Kharif season, highlighting that there are chances of full rainfall activity in the coming few days around the region.
