Special Branch DCP Sengaokar transferred even as bakery blast probe remains incomplete; he will now be Beed police superintendent

DCP, Special Branch, Ravindra Sengaokar has beenu00a0 transferred to Beed as superintendent of police. The officer was transferred in the middle of investigations in the German Bakery blast case.

Sengaokar took charge as DCP Special Branch on September 11, 2008, and has been credited with changing the face of the Foreigners' Registration Department.

He modernised the Foreign Registration Office (FRO) on a priority basis and inaugurated it on November 22, 2009.

As a parting message, DCP Sengaokar told MiD DAY, "I would like to tell the citizens to be alert and help the police so that in future we can avert instances like the German Bakery blast."

High point of career
According to Sengaokar, his career highlight has not been the fact that he changed the face of intelligence collection in the city but that he saved the life of one of his colleague. Referring to the Kamal Jain case of 2009, where Jain tried to run over ASI V B Jadhav who hung onto the bonnet to stop Jain. Sengaonkar, supervising the VIP movement of L K Advani and Mohammad Hamid Ansari, realised the situation and opened fire on the car.

Asked about the transfer, he said that the transfer had come in February itself but was postponed due to
the blast, and the investigations will be completed as per orders given to him.

Sengaokar hit the headlines after Neetu Singh, final year student of FTII, was deported to Nepal, which was cancelled after political pressure.

The Superintendent of Beed, Lakhmi Gautam has been transferred to Pune.
