Maharashtra: Speeding vehicle mows down spotted deer in Pune

A spotted deer (chital) was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle near Bhukum village in Pune's Mulshi taluka. Forest and police officials reached the spot, and the carcass was sent for a post-mortem. Officials said increasing summer heat is forcing wild animals onto roads, leading to more such accidents

An Indian spotted deer (chital) was allegedly mowed down by a speeding vehicle in Pune, forest officials said on Thursday. According to officials, the deer died on the spot after being struck by an unidentified vehicle near Hotel Shivray Dhaba in Bhukum village of Mulshi taluka.
Authorities inspect scene
After receiving information about the accident, personnel from the Bavdhan police station and the forest department rushed to the spot. A preliminary inspection was carried out by Range Forest Officer Nandkumar Shelar and Forest Guard Sagar Hol, after which the carcass of the animal was sent for a veterinary examination. Forest officials said the remains would be disposed of according to departmental procedures after the post-mortem.
