Uttar Pradesh: Pharma dealer shot dead in Chandauli district

A 45-year-old pharmaceutical dealer was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli, while a separate incident in Mumbai saw a 39-year-old labourer bludgeoned and strangled by a co-worker inside a steel shop. Police have launched investigations in both cases

In an extremely shocking incident at Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli, a 45-year-old pharmaceutical dealer in the Mughalsarai police station was shot at by unknown assailants. The incident happened late on Tuesday night, leaving him seriously injured. 

After he was shot, the victim succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatment at the BHU Trauma Centre in Varanasi.


As reported by news agency PTI, the 45-year-old man was identified as Rohitas Pal, alias Romi (45). Reportedly, the victim ran a pharmacy shop on GT Road. 



As per PTI, he was shot by two assailants around 11 pm while closing his shop, said Inspector Chandresh Sharma of Mughalsarai police station.

However, soon after the incident happened, the victim was immediately taken to the hospital, where he died this morning during treatment.

Inspector Chandresh Sharma of Mughalsarai police station, while asserting about the incident, said, “Criminals were involved in the shooting, and the teams are searching for them,” reported PTI. 

Inspector Sharma further said that the police investigation so far has revealed that Pal was involved in a dispute over the division of land worth crores of rupees.

Labourer bludgeoned and strangled inside steel shop; co-worker absconding

In a different case, a 39-year-old labourer was allegedly bludgeoned and strangled to death by his co-worker inside a steel company’s office in Girgaum, Mumbai. The incident happened during the early hours of Monday. 

The VP Road Police have launched a manhunt for the accused, who fled the scene soon after the crime. 

The victim has been identified as Ramesh Hajaji Chaudhary, a native of Bhatram village in the Banaskantha district of Gujarat. The alleged assailant, 22-year-old Suraj Sanjay Mandal, worked with him at Sentek Coated Steels Pvt Ltd, located on the first floor of Building No. 13 at 7th Khetwadi Lane.

According to Mumbai Police, the duo lived and worked inside the office premises. Between 1 am and 1.30 am on Monday, an altercation reportedly broke out between them. The reason for the dispute is yet to be ascertained. During the argument, Mandal allegedly picked up a wooden stool and struck Chaudhary repeatedly before using a fire extinguisher to assault him further. Officers said Chaudhary was also strangled, leading to his death.
