After the shocking daylight murder of prisoner Chandan Mishra inside Paras Hospital in Patna on Thursday, police have identified all five attackers using CCTV footage and have launched major raids to nab them, reported the IANS.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by City SP (East), has been formed to handle the case. The Bihar Special Task Force (STF) is also helping with the investigation, the news agency reported.
The team of police officials have identified the escape routes used by the accused and are conducting raids across Patna, Phulwarisharif, and nearby Hajipur. So far, no arrests have been made, as per the IANS.
The attack happened on Thursday morning when five armed men entered Paras Hospital -- one of Patna’s biggest private hospitals -- and shot dead Chandan Mishra, a prisoner from Buxar who was receiving treatment on parole.

CCTV footage shows the five attackers, four wearing caps, walking into ward number 209 where Mishra was admitted. Each was carrying a pistol. They entered the room and shot Mishra quickly before escaping.
There was no visible police or private security in the hospital lobby during the attack. Witnesses in nearby wards heard gunshots and came out, but quickly went back inside out of fear.
The ease with which the attackers escaped has raised serious questions about the security arrangements for prisoners admitted to private hospitals, as per the IANS.
Chandan Mishra was known to be a notorious criminal and an inmate of Beur Jail. His killing has sparked public concern, with many asking, “Where were the police responsible for his security? Why were there no proper safety measures despite the high risk of a gang attack?”
After the incident, Chandan Mishra’s family and supporters began a protest (dharna) outside Paras Hospital.
Patna’s SSP, Kartikeya K Sharma, said that police are actively working on the case and will catch the accused soon. He added that the matter is being taken very seriously.
The killing, carried out in broad daylight inside a high-security hospital, has led to widespread criticism of the Patna Police and raised fresh concerns over the law and order situation in Bihar’s capital, the IANS reported.
