Prominent actors found themselves in a legal soup after a video of them executing stunts on a moving bike in Ahmedabad went viral. This was for a Gujarati film promotion. This has been slammed online for encouraging risky behaviour on public highways.

In one of the viral videos, an actor can be seen replicating the classic Titanic pose while standing on a moving bike. Another video shows another actor standing up and riding a bike. The stunts, which were captured on a busy downtown street, sparked road safety concerns.

Taking note of the viral video, the Ahmedabad Traffic Police announced on X (previously known as Twitter) that legal action had been taken against the performers.

While the movie team may have apologised, this action was needed considering how actors are role models for many, considering their high-visibility careers. Inadvertently, they may send a message that there is absolutely no problem with performing stunts. In fact, we may see many copycats putting not only themselves but others in danger with this flashy inanity on wheels. These are not fun but can be fatal.

Given the world we inhabit, our sports stars, actors, and performers carry the heavy and perhaps unfair burden of being ambassadors for their profession. Always in the public glare, constant scrutiny is the price that comes with fame.

That is why they have even more of a responsibility and must always be careful and rethink their behaviour, even if for a film promotion. We want our celebrities to send messages of safety and make caution inspirational and fashionable.
