For the first time, a real-time machine intelligence system assisted a neurosurgeon during live brain surgery. Conducted at London’s National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, the clinical trial utilised software developed at University College London.
The technology analysed live video feeds to identify critical anatomy inside a confined surgical environment. This extra visual guidance enabled doctors to remove a pituitary tumor from patient Rhys Hibbert, fully protecting his vision during the delicate procedure.
