Researchers at the University of Wisconsin–Madison have identified a distinct new baobab species, Adansonia bozy, found only in Madagascar.

According to a study published in Taxon, genetic analysis showed that northern tree populations previously classified under Adansonia za are actually separate and closely related to other northern Malagasy baobabs.
