US heatwave: At least 29 dead in New Jersey as temperatures shatter records

A severe heatwave has claimed at least 29 lives in New Jersey, shattered temperature records across more than 20 US states and disrupted Independence Day celebrations, with hundreds seeking emergency medical care

A scorching heat wave that gripped large parts of the United States (US) during the weekend of the country's 250th anniversary celebrations has claimed more than two dozen lives across the East Coast, Southeast, and Southwest, news agency IANS reported.
In New Jersey alone, at least 29 people are estimated to have died due to the heatwave, according to the state's department of health.
