A massive glacial lake outburst in Bhutan has triggered a flood alert across parts of northern West Bengal and Assam, raising fears of a sudden surge in the Sankosh river system. The breach at Shintaphu Lake in Bhutan's Lemthang region reportedly released nearly 7.4 million cubic metres of water into the downstream river network. More than 10,000 people have been moved to relief shelters and safer locations in West Bengal. Residents in vulnerable riverbank villages have been seen fleeing with their cattle as authorities issue evacuation warnings. Assam's Dhubri district is also on alert, while NDRF and SDRF teams remain on standby for emergency operations. Heavy rainfall forecast for Alipurduar has added to concerns.

Nepal floods have stranded more than 150 foreign trekkers in the popular Manaslu trekking region after the Budhi Gandaki River surged following a landslide. The flooding has damaged trails, swept away bridges and inundated settlements in the Chumnubri area, west of Kathmandu. Reports say nearly 40 houses and six bridges were affected, while hydropower infrastructure, communication networks and a primary school also suffered damage. At least 10 people are reported missing, according to the supplied reports. Rescue teams are working to reach isolated communities, while 96 people, including nine foreign nationals, were rescued following the initial landslide-related emergency.
