DPAP chief Ghulam Nabi Azad called for a united political approach to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, stressing that the issue has broad consensus. He criticised the halt in local development and urged meaningful dialogue with the Centre. Azad also dismissed rumours about his appointment as vice president.

He went on to compare the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir with the time when he was the Chief Minister, saying there used to be twenty teachers in high schools but today there is only one teacher, where there used to be 15 doctors there are only two doctors
