Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan looked determined to score big before being dismissed for 55 off 100 balls against Railways on Day One of their Elite Group D Ranji Trophy match at the Cricket Club of India’s Brabourne Stadium on Monday. However, his disappointment was even more evident after the day’s play, when the 29-year-old spoke about his continued absence from India’s plans at the highest level.

Sarfaraz, who has played six Tests and scored 371 runs, including a century (150 against New Zealand in Bengaluru in 2024), was included in India’s Test squad for the Sri Lanka tour in August following Sai Sudharsan’s injury. However, he was not considered for the ongoing India A tour of New Zealand.
