Srishti Kiran, a 13-year-old prodigy from Bengaluru, has reached another milestone in her international junior tennis career by securing the World No. 1 spot in the Under-13 age division rankings.
This top ranking follows an incredible stretch of form where Srishti won five back-to-back ITF junior titles before finishing as the runner-up at the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/brand-media/sports/article/aryan-komandur-wins-aita-national-tennis-championship-series-under12-singles-1261" rel="nofollow">ITF World Tennis Tour</a> Juniors J100 tournament in Guatemala last week.
Her incredible run of form and steady results has pushed her to a career-best ITF Junior ranking of No. 357, distinguishing her as the top-ranked Under-13 player across the globe.
What makes this achievement even more extraordinary is that Srishti climbed to the top while playing in just eight ranking tournaments, even though the system calculates point totals using a player's best ten events.
She sat out two potential tournaments due to travel and financial challenges, which makes her rise to the pinnacle of the Under-13 division even more impressive.
Even with two fewer tournament point opportunities than her nearest competitors, the young Indian star racked up enough points to firmly plant herself as the Under-13 World No. 1.
"I'm really happy to become World No. 1 in my age group. It's something I wasn't thinking about at the start of the year, but all the hard work with my coaches, family and support team is paying off," said Srishti.
"The last few weeks have been very special. Winning five titles in a row and then reaching another final has given me a lot of confidence. At the same time, I know there is still a long way to go and many things I need to improve in my game," she added.
<h2>Srishti's international campaign is set to continue in Europe</h2>
Provided she secures a spot in the main draw, she is slated to play in a high-profile J300 tournament in the United Kingdom before competing at the Junior <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/other-sports/article/wimbledon-2025-ton-of-joy-for-novak-djokovic-tennis-23583463" rel="nofollow">Wimbledon Championships</a>.
The teenager is already adjusting her training for the upcoming grass-court stretch and is excited about the prospect of playing on grass.
"Playing on grass and hopefully competing at Wimbledon Juniors is a dream for every young tennis player. If I get into the J300 event, it will be a great opportunity to learn and test myself against some of the best juniors in the world," said Srishti.
In the past, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sunday-mid-day/article/how-indian-tennis-player-sania-mirzas-new-initiative-the-next-set-is-paving-the-way-for-females-in-the-sport-23617729" rel="nofollow">Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza</a> played at the AELTC as a 14-year-old during the 2001 Wimbledon Junior Championships, where she reached the second round in singles.
