For a national sports federation or a state or district body, setting up a high-performance centre may not be an insurmountable challenge, given the resources and financial support at their disposal. However, for former Olympian shooter Suma Shirur, 52, turning that dream into reality over two decades has been a personal mission.
On Wednesday, Shirur, who once travelled daily from Panvel to Dadar and then to Worli in a State Transport bus for shooting practice, inaugurated her dream venture, Lakshya Shooting Club High Performance Centre in CBD Belapur.
