Geneva: The International Olympic Committee&rsquo;s executive board will hold a conference call on Sunday to discuss banning Russia from the Rio Games over state-run doping, an IOC spokesperson told AFP.

"There will be a conference call on Sunday led by the IOC president (Thomas Bach)," a spokesperson for the organisation said. In a separate statement, the IOC said it "takes note of the announcement of the decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport," upholding a Rio ban imposed against Russia&rsquo;s track and field team. "We will now have to study and analyse the full (CAS) decision," the IOC said.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin in Moscow expressed "deep regret" over a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissing a Russian appeal against a ban over doping that bars the country&rsquo;s track and field team from participating in the Rio Games.
&lsquo;Deep regret&rsquo; "The idea of collective responsibility from our point of view can hardly be considered acceptable," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists. "We can only express deep regret."
