Golf superstar Rory McIlroy spoke warmly yesterday of his relationship with women's tennis No 1 Caroline Wozniacki, saying the pressures of top-level sport gave them a special bond.

McIlroy, who started dating Wozniacki in the weeks after his emphatic US Open victory in June, said the two did not discuss the technical side of their sports but would talk about the mental pressures.

"More about the mental side, rather than anything else," McIlroy told AFP. "It's great to be able to talk to someone who truly understands what you're doing and what you go through."
