A number of cities in India are scheduled to host grand music festivals this November and December and as the mood transitions from the festive to the party season, it is time to explore the other side of the fashion and beauty world, alongside one's personalities. While the ethnic trends were defined by softer colours, whether clothing or makeup, the party season this year is all about going metallic and adding shimmer to one's look.

While dewy makeup and statement eyes and lips still retain the gaze, people are ready to experiment with the trends to recreate the look and stand out at night gatherings. Beauty content creator and makeup artist Diksha Sachdev states minimal makeup and dark burnt blush trend continue to dominate the winter trends too.

The minimal makeup style is defined by using light formulations for your foundation makeup and requires little maintenance. One must use a moisturiser that keeps the skin dewy and supple, followed by using a light cosmetic product for the base such as a skin tint or a BB cream.

Glam up with glitter and shimmer
It is time to go beyond the statement bold colours for your eyes and lips, which often become the focal point of makeup. At a time when a fusion of tech and fashion is a dominant trend, GenZs and millennials are going all out to explore their personalities in the digital world. The use of metallic glitter and shimmer, a revival of Y2K one can say, is natural to this evolution.

While bronze, silver and gold are popular metallic hues, Sachdev recommends going beyond these colours to experiment with copper, navy, lilac and other jewelled tones like emerald green and ruby red for the season. Makeup artist Mohamed Aysha from Blushbee organic beauty suggests adding maroon and burgundy shades too to the fall collection.

"You may get the ideal level of glimmer without stepping outside of your comfort zone by using a modest gold colour or a shimmering copper eyeshadow with a coat of black mascara to open up your eyes," says Sachdev.

Moreover, understanding your skin tone to find the perfect lipstick shade is equally important. Sachdev and Aysha suggest one's outfit, lips, eyes and cheeks must syn together for a smooth finish. One must ensure that there are not too many colours to choose from and it is always good to play around and go for bold shades as per the skin tone. If one chooses to sport the dark burnt blush, go for deeper and darker colours and replace the pink and grape tones with terracotta, brick, and peachy tones.

Here's a guide by Sachdev for a simple yet classy evening makeup look:

High drama is required for evening makeup looks: a hint of glitter, sparkling eyes that stand out, and strong lips! Dark colours may make a room feel harsh during the day but look great at night.

Even while creating nighttime makeup looks may initially appear challenging, there is no need to be concerned. Here is a step-by-step tutorial for a stunning yet straightforward evening makeup look that will attract attention everywhere you go.

Step 1: Apply primer first
The way your face makeup will sit on your face depends greatly on how your skin is prepped. Applying a primer after cleaning and hydrating your face will assist to hide big, open pores, let your makeup slide on easily, and prolong its wear.

Step 2: Create an ideal foundation
Making your complexion even is the next stage in your evening makeup. For a flawless base, blot your foundation across your face, neck, and décolleté (low neckline). Applying foundation using a makeup sponge or brush rather than spreading it across the face will result in a smooth and streak-free finish.

Step 3: Apply concealer
Conceal dark circles, acne scars, and blemishes by using concealer to lighten the high points of your face, such as the bridge of your nose, the top of your cheekbones, and the middle of your forehead. Apply the concealer using the facelifting technique for a natural yet snatched appearance.

Further, follow Aysha's tips for adding the glamour:
1. Go for a glossy finish for the face
2. Invest in a glitter eye shadow palette that suits your skin tone. You can opt for a single colour or mix up colours depending on the occasion.
3. Once your eyeshadow is set, dab some glitter and blend.
4. Add a light tone to the temple area to highlight your glitter.
5. Finish off with your eyeliner and mascara. If you must absolutely wear eye makeup, just a light dash of kohl - smudged, will suffice.
6. A contrasting lip shade can help the entire look go bold. Opt for matte lipstick or vinyl lipstick, which will give your lips full coverage.
7. Brushed brows with no eye makeup can give your eyes a soft finish which will perfectly compliment your bold lips.
8. If you want to highlight just your eyes, opt for a subtle lip shade.
