The year started on a scary note for Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and their kids Taimur and Jeh. Saif was attacked by an intruder in their Mumbai home. What followed was a barrage of speculations about the nature of the incident and what exactly transpired on the night of January 16, when an intruder barged into Jeh's room. Kareena was also trolled during this time, with people speculating about her whereabouts during the attack. Some also questioned the intensity of the attack.

Kareena on cruel comments after attack on Saif Ali Khan

In a recent chat with Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, Kareena recalled the media coverage and reactions on the internet that followed the attack. Kareena had also slammed the media coverage back then through her Instagram but had later deleted the post.

Now, reacting to the way the internet responded to the incident and the news being fed to the audience, she said, “It was utter garbage. It makes me really… not angry because it is a really bad kind of emotion. I never want to be angry because I don’t think it is in me, but I just feel really sad that that’s what humanity has come to. Is that the kind of consumption that people really want? Is that what we are going to give them? Are you going to laud other people’s grief?”

She added, “That is what makes me sad. Is this the digital age that we’re talking about? Because that’s not where we all belong, because humanity is much more than just consumption.”

Kareena on struggling to get back to normal

She also spoke about the incident and how it impacted her. “I am still kind of struggling with what it does to see someone there in your child's room. In Mumbai, you never really hear about such incidents. It is very common in the US. In Mumbai, we have never really heard about such incidents. We have still not come to terms 100 per cent. At least I haven’t. I was very anxious for the first couple of months. It was very difficult to sleep and get back to being a person with that kind of normalcy.”

She added, “I don't want to live in that fear for my children because it’s also wrong to put that stress onto them. So, it’s been a tough journey to manoeuvre from fear and anxiety to balancing the fact that I am a mother and I am also a wife. It was a combination of so much understanding that this is what I have to kind of deal with. I am just happy and thank God that we are safe.”
