Riteish Deshmukh takes on the role of an antagonist in the Ajay Devgn and Vaani Kapoor-starrer 'Raid 2'. Directed by Rajkumar Gupta and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Krishan Kumar, 'Raid 2' will feature Riteish Deshmukh in the negative lead role.

Known for delivering exceptional performances as a negative lead, Riteish Deshmukh will face off against Ajay Devgn on the silver screen for the first time, following their collaboration in hilarious comedy films. The makers started shooting in Mumbai last week and will be extensively filmed in Mumbai, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The film will be released theatrically on November 15, 2024

Talking about ‘Raid’, the film is a 2018 Indian crime thriller film directed by Raj Kumar Gupta. Set in the 1980s, it followed the story of Amay Patnaik, an honest income tax officer played by Ajay Devgn. Patnaik leads a high-stakes raid on the influential politician Rameshwar Singh's (played by Saurabh Shukla) residence, suspecting him of massive tax evasion. As the intense cat-and-mouse game unfolds, Patnaik faces various challenges, including political pressure and threats to his family.

The film explores themes of corruption, integrity, and the power struggle between a dedicated officer and a cunning adversary, creating a gripping narrative within the confines of a single raid. The story was inspired by true events involving Sardar Inder Singh, a Congress politician whose residence in Madhya Pradesh was subjected to a prolonged three-day and two-night raid by IT officers in the 1980s. This raid stood out from others due to its extended duration, making it the longest in India's history.

Besides this, Ajay will be seen in director Neeraj Pandey's upcoming directorial 'Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha' opposite Tabu. The film promises to be a unique musical love story with an epic romantic drama spanning across 20 years, set between 2002 and 2023, and will be a multi-language release. He also has producer Boney Kapoor's period drama film 'Maidaan', an untitled supernatural thriller film alongside R. Madhavan and Rohit Shetty's upcoming action thriller film 'Singham Again' in his kitty.
