TV actress Benaf Dadachandji, who married her long-time partner Norman Huo, is gearing up for a special return to television, this time in a refreshingly unexpected role. Stepping away from scripted characters, Benaf will appear as herself on MasterChef India’s much-anticipated Jodi Special Season, where couples compete together, blending food with personal stories.

On her work trajectory

Known for her work across films and television shows on Sony and other platforms, Benaf’s comeback marks a shift from acting to reality television. The culinary show offers her a chance to reconnect with audiences in a more personal way, revealing a different side of her personality beyond the camera and costumes.

Partnering with her husband Norman, Benaf brings a unique cross-cultural dynamic to the MasterChef kitchen. The duo represents a fusion of backgrounds and flavours, combining the bold, comforting essence of Parsi cuisine with the refined, technique-driven approach of Chinese cooking. Together, they describe their style as “dancing in chaos,” a reflection of both their culinary experiments and their life as a couple.

On entering as a participant

Speaking about her return to television, Benaf shared, “Coming back to TV through MasterChef India feels incredibly special. This time, I’m not playing a character, I’m just being myself. Cooking with Norman, bringing together our cultures and flavours, and doing it on a platform that India loves so deeply makes this journey truly unforgettable.”

She added that the experience has strengthened their bond even further. “Food has always been a big part of our relationship. Being able to cook together under pressure, make mistakes, laugh, and still create something meaningful has been very rewarding,” she said.

Norman, too, is excited about the opportunity, as the show allows him to share his love for cooking while celebrating their partnership. Their dishes, inspired by heritage and personal memories, aim to tell a story rather than simply impress the judges.

This season of MasterChef India is historic, as it marks the first time the show will feature 12 jodis competing together. The format celebrates family legacies, partnerships, and the emotional connections formed through food. Adding to the excitement is the reunion of original judges Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar, and Kunal Kapur, who return to crown India’s first-ever MasterChef Jodi.

For Benaf, the journey is less about competition and more about authenticity, connection, and rediscovering herself, one dish at a time.
