Former Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal has always been vocal about her stint on the show that did not end on good terms. The actor has once again shocked everyone by making serious allegations of sexual harassment against the show's producer, Asit Kumarr Modi. Best known for playing the role of Roshan Sodhi in the show, the actress recently recounted the disturbing instances of unsolicited advances, offensive remarks, and a workplace culture that she says allowed persistent abuse.
Jennifer recalls Asit Modi's remarks
In a recent interview with Pink Villa, the actor recalls the first troubling incident that occurred in 2018, when Jennifer reportedly had a conflict with Sohail Ramani, the show’s Operations Head. Sohail allegedly abused her verbally over the phone, after which she turned to Asit Modi for support, but was shocked by his response. She shared, “Asit ji ke pass gayi unse baat karne Sohail se related toh sab chod ke voh muje bol rahe hai ki 'Sexy lag rahi ho', (I went to Asit ji to talk about something related to Sohail, but he left everything aside and said 'You're looking sexy.')”

Sharing another incident, the actress recalls, "In 2022, I had to go to Switzerland, but there were visa issues because these people were not giving me in written that I work there. Asit ji called me and he said a lot of things during that phone call that were out of line. I started crying, saying, 'Sir, please, I'm working for 10 years. I'm spending 10 lakh that I've saved. I just want to go to Switzerland with my family'." She further shared, "He started saying, 'Why are you crying? If you were here, I would have hugged you, but you don't care about me.' Then he said that he was just kidding, but he did that multiple times and with many people."
However, Jennifer recalls the most terrifying incident came in 2019, when the cast of TMKOC had gone to Singapore for shooting in March. She reveals Asit Modi asked her to come to his room and have whisky with him in Singapore. She adds, "I ignored that. He said the same things to Monika Bhadoriya (Bawri). He used to make comments, but not physically. In 'fun', he has told me at least 10 times that he doesn't think I'm Parsi and I've lied about my caste to work in the show," said Mistry.
She further recalls, "On the third day in Singapore, he came near me when we were getting coffee and he said tumhare honth bade sexy hain, aisa lagta hai pakad ke kiss kar doon. (Your lips are very sexy. I feel like kissing you)."
Asit Modi is scared of Munmun
Jennifer reveals the incident started taking a toll on her despite her efforts to ignore it. She first confided in Mandar Chandwadkar (Bhide), but he did not say anything. She then told Gurucharan Singh about the incident. She shares, "I told Gurucharan (Sodhi) next because he was also close to me. He couldn't do much because he was also working. But he said, 'Chalo meri voti ke paas nahi rehne. (Don't come near my wife). He said that in fun."
Jennifer reveals that Asit Modi is slightly scared of Munmun Dutta (Babita), saying, "Munmun was my very good friend. So I told her too. She is a strong woman and scolded him. She said, 'Why do you trouble her just because she doesn't say much. Don't disturb her.' He (Asit) is a little scared of Munmun, so he remained quiet."
