The consistent movement of car rakes has collectively generated freight earnings of Rs 2.66 crore, underlining the increasing reliance of the automotive industry on Indian Railways for efficient and dependable transportation
A total of 17 automobile-carrying trains have been successfully dispatched from the Jogeshwari goods shed
Jogeshwari Terminus has established itself as a significant node in the Indian Railways’ automobile logistics network, transporting an average of 100 cars per train across four to five rakes each month, said officials. As of July 21, 2025, a total of 17 automobile-carrying trains have been successfully dispatched from the Jogeshwari goods shed.
These rail consignments have reached key destinations such as Fatuha, Raipur Store Depot, Baihata, and Kapilas Road. The consistent movement of car rakes has collectively generated freight earnings of Rs 2.66 crore, underlining the increasing reliance of the automotive industry on Indian Railways for efficient and dependable transportation.
Opting for rail over road transport has delivered several strategic advantages. Each train movement saves nearly 40 hours of transit time, enhancing operational efficiency and meeting tight delivery schedules. In addition, every rake helps save around 450 litres of fuel, contributing to cost savings and environmental sustainability.
Indian Railways continues to offer one of the safest modes of cargo transport, with no damage reported to any of the high-value automobile consignments moved so far. The combination of reliability, timeliness, and eco-friendly operations positions Indian Railways as a preferred logistics partner in India’s growing freight ecosystem.
