Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Commissioner Saurabh Rao inspected the ongoing road repair works in Ghodbunder area and directed that all remaining works must be completed by May 30, officials said on Friday.
Earlier, on April 24, Rao had instructed that the works should be finished by May 20 and upon inspection on Thursday, it was found that most of the works on Ghodbunder Road were completed and some of remaining works were nearing completion. The Thane civic has ordered to complete the pending work urgently, they said.
In a traffic notification, the police had said that the heavy vehicles will be restricted from entering specific parts of the Ghodbunder Road during on going works and had announced several alternate routes.
It had said that the repair work, which will be done using Cement Grouted Penetration Macadam (CGPM) and Cement Base (CB) methods.

He also instructed that proper signage should be put up at sites where work will continue after the monsoon, to keep traffic flowing smoothly.
During his visit, Rao also inspected the areas of Eastern Express Highway, Kapurbawdi Junction, Ghodbunder Road, service road, and Gaymukh Ghat, where ongoing and completed works were reviewed. Along with him, senior officials from the municipal corporation, public works department, MMRDA, metro, and electricity department were present.
He highlighted that continuous monitoring is being done to ensure smooth and safe traffic on Ghodbunder Road during the monsoon.

To prevent waterlogging on Ghodbunder Road during the monsoon, cleaning of all drainage lines and culverts is in progress. Old drainage lines are being connected to new ones. The civic commissioner directed that these cleaning works be completed by May 30, officials said.
The Kasarvadavali flyover, which will ease traffic on Ghodbunder Road, is nearly complete.
Rao inspected the flyover and instructed MMRDA officials to finish remaining work by 5 June, officials said on Friday.
