Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday announced the state’s commitment to becoming a global hub for supplying skilled manpower to international industries.

Chairing a high-level review meeting of the Skill Development, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Department, he directed officials to align training programs with global industry demands and strengthen the ecosystem for both government and private ITIs.

“As global demand for skilled manpower rises, Maharashtra must respond with relevant training and world-class facilities,” Fadnavis said.

He instructed the creation of a centralised digital system to track every trainee’s journey from enrollment to course completion, and called for upgrading government-run ITIs into global-standard skill centres. He also emphasised tracking all MoUs through the CM Dashboard to ensure accountability and implementation.

Industry-focused courses and collaboration with Mahindra

Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha announced the launch of new industry-relevant courses in ITIs, including:

Solar Technology

Electric Vehicle Maintenance

Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing)

Drone Technology

Industrial Robotics

AI Programming Assistance

Courses will be customised for urban, rural, and tribal populations, based on regional needs.

The Directorate of Vocational Education and Training signed an MoU with Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd to jointly offer training in emerging sectors. Company representatives, including Dr Lewis and Prafull Pandey, were present at the signing.

Additional Chief Secretary Manisha Verma presented the department’s structure, achievements, and future plans, highlighting ongoing innovative projects and success stories.

CM Fadnavis urged officials to study best practices globally and incorporate them through collaborations, including guidance from MITRA (Maharashtra Institution for Transformation).

“We are not just creating skilled workers, we are building entrepreneurs and innovators who can drive India’s economic growth,” said Lodha.
