An unidentified biker bludgeoned a motorist with his helmet and assaulted his woman friend at a traffic signal in Santacruz West on Friday night. At the time of the incident, the complainant, Ajay Nakra, 59, a financial consultant and resident of Juhu Tara Road in Santacruz West, was returning from Churchgate after dining with a woman friend and her family, according to the police.
The Santacruz police have registered an FIR against the assailant, whom they are searching for with the help of his bike’s registration number. A police officer said, “Nakra was in his car with his friend and her family at the Prem Narayan Chowk signal, and the accused was also waiting beside this vehicle. Nakra’s signal had turned green, but the biker wanted to take a left turn, and his signal had not yet turned green.”
“The victim honked, requesting the biker to move slightly to the left so he could pass. However, the biker refused to oblige. Nakra then tried to overtake the bike and allegedly made slight contact with it. The biker, enraged, removed his helmet and began abusing Nakra before slapping him multiple times,” the officer said.
“Meanwhile, the brother of Nakra’s friend tried to intervene, but the biker wouldn’t listen. He then struck Nakra on the face with his helmet and also assaulted his female friend. The accused even recorded a video before fleeing on his motorcycle. Nakra managed to note down the bike’s licence plate number,” the officer added. Both victims were rushed to Bhabha Hospital for treatment. The police were subsequently informed about the incident.
