Nullah cleaning: 4 per cent done, 2 months to clear 96 per cent silt in Mumbai

BMC’s drain-cleaning tracker shows work has progressed fast in Eastern Suburbs, silt removal slow in Mithi river

Since the second week of March, when the BMC started cleaning drains in preparation for the monsoon, overall 4 per cent of the targeted silt across the city and in Mithi river have been cleared.
At 14 per cent, most work has been done in the Eastern Suburbs, followed by Western Suburbs (5 per cent), Mumbai city (3 per cent) and Mithi river and minor nullahs (1 per cent each), shows the BMC’s tracker.
