The Thane City Traffic Branch has issued a traffic control notification for Kalyan East as the old bridge on Pune Link Road at Khadavali Naka is set to be demolished and a new bridge constructed from January 22. The notification aims to prevent congestion and ensure smooth traffic flow in the area.

According to the notice issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pankaj Shirsat, all vehicles travelling from Pune Link Road at Khadavali Naka towards Vitthalwadi Railway Station and Shriram Chowk will be barred entry at Late Anand Dighe Chowk and Smashan Bhumi Chowk. Affected vehicles will be rerouted via Late Anand Dighe Flyover and Samrat Chowk.

Similarly, vehicles coming from Shriram Chowk and the east side of Vitthalwadi Railway Station towards Khadavali Naka and Chakkan Naka will not be allowed entry at Shriram Chowk. These vehicles will be diverted via Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Entrance Gate, Shantinagar Ulhasnagar, and Samrat Chowk.

For light vehicles, residents of Kalyan East travelling to or from Kolshewadi Police Station or Vitthalwadi Railway Station East are advised to use internal roads, including the road under Kathemanivli Bridge via Hanuman Nagar, Chinchpada Road, and 100 Feet Road. Vehicles coming from Shriram Chowk towards Kalyan East can use the road from Vitthalwadi Railway Station near Mahila Udyog Kendra or the road from Aparna Dairy towards Khadavali.

The traffic diversions will come into effect from 12.01 am on January 22 and will remain in force until the completion of the bridge work. The restrictions will not apply to police vehicles, fire brigades, ambulances, green corridor and oxygen vehicles, or other essential services.

Authorities have urged motorists to follow the alternate routes and exercise caution in the affected areas. KDMC and Thane City Police will install necessary signage to guide traffic during the construction period.

Thane: Traffic restrictions announced on Ghodbunder Road on January 18 for foot overbridge work

Thane will witness temporary traffic restrictions on the busy Ghodbunder Road on January 18 as the Thane City Traffic Department undertakes critical infrastructure work for the installation of a foot overbridge (FOB). The restrictions will be enforced under the Kasarvadavali Traffic Sub-Division to facilitate the safe movement and placement of a large fabricated truss structure.

According to an official notification issued by the Traffic Department of Maharashtra Police, Thane City, the restrictions will remain in effect from 7 am to 1 pm on Saturday. The traffic curbs are being implemented to ensure the smooth execution of the FOB installation and to prevent congestion on one of Thane’s most heavily used arterial roads.

As per the notification, a fabricated truss measuring 48 metres in length, 3.80 metres in width, and 4 metres in height will be installed on both sides of the footpath along Ghodbunder Road. The work will be carried out by RPS–PRS Joint Venture, Mumbai, during the specified time window. Given the size of the structure and the equipment involved, traffic regulation has been deemed necessary to ensure public safety and minimise disruption.

To manage traffic flow effectively, specific diversions and stoppages have been announced, particularly for heavy vehicles approaching Ghodbunder Road from different directions.
