Thane: Traffic restrictions announced on Ghodbunder Road on January 18 for foot overbridge work
Thane will witness temporary traffic restrictions on the busy Ghodbunder Road on January 18 as the Thane City Traffic Department undertakes critical infrastructure work for the installation of a foot overbridge (FOB). The restrictions will be enforced under the Kasarvadavali Traffic Sub-Division to facilitate the safe movement and placement of a large fabricated truss structure.
According to an official notification issued by the Traffic Department of Maharashtra Police, Thane City, the restrictions will remain in effect from 7 am to 1 pm on Saturday. The traffic curbs are being implemented to ensure the smooth execution of the FOB installation and to prevent congestion on one of Thane’s most heavily used arterial roads.
As per the notification, a fabricated truss measuring 48 metres in length, 3.80 metres in width, and 4 metres in height will be installed on both sides of the footpath along Ghodbunder Road. The work will be carried out by RPS–PRS Joint Venture, Mumbai, during the specified time window. Given the size of the structure and the equipment involved, traffic regulation has been deemed necessary to ensure public safety and minimise disruption.
To manage traffic flow effectively, specific diversions and stoppages have been announced, particularly for heavy vehicles approaching Ghodbunder Road from different directions.
