Ahead of the Velankanni festival 2025, the Central Railway on Wednesday announced four special train services between LTT in Mumbai and Velankanni, officials said
In an official statement, the Central Railway said that it has decided to run 4 special train services between LTT Mumbai and Velankanni for devotees to attend the Velankanni festival.
The details of services are as under:
- 01161/01162-LTT Mumbai-Velankanni Specials (2 Trips)
Special train will depart LTT Mumbai at 13.00 hrs on Tuesday, 26.08.2025 and will arrive Velankanni at 03.00 hrs on third day (Thursday)
The special train will depart Velankanni at 06.00 hrs on Thursday, 28.08.2025 and will arrive LTT Mumbai at 16.20 hrs next day (Friday)
- 01163/01164-LTT Mumbai-Velankanni festival specials (2 Trips)
- It will depart LTT Mumbai at 13.00 hrs on Sunday, 07.09.2025 and will arrive Velankanni at 03.00 hrs on third day (Tuesday)
The special train will depart Velankanni at 06.00 hrs on Tuesday, 09.09.2025 and will arrive LTT Mumbai at 16.20 hrs next day (Wednesday)
Composition for all trains -- Two AC-2Tier, Six AC-3Tier, 12 Sleeper Class, 2 General Second Class and 2 Second Seating cum Guard’s Brake Van.
Halts for all trains: Thane, Kalyan, Lonavala, Pune, Daund, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Wadi, Yadgir, Krishna, Raichur, Mantralayam Road, Adoni, Guntakal, Gooty, Tadipatri, Yerraguntla, Kadapa, Razampet, Renigunta, Katpadi, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Mayiladuturai and Nagappattinam.
"Bookings for the special train nos 01161 and 01163 will open from 16.08.2025 at all computerised reservation centres and on website. For detailed timings at halts of this special train please visit the website or NTES app," the Central Railway said.
It said that the passengers are requested to avail these special train services.
IRCTC launches Devbhoomi Yatra train for north India pilgrimage
Meanwhile, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on Tuesday announced the launch of the “Uttar Bharat Devbhoomi Yatra”, a spiritual rail journey under the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train scheme.
According to an official statement, the 11-day pilgrimage tour offers travellers a chance to visit some of north India's most sacred and culturally rich locations.
The tour will run from October 4 to October 14, 2025, covering approximately 5,000 kilometres over 10 nights and 11 days.
The journey supports the Government of India’s “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” and “Dekho Apna Desh” initiatives aimed at boosting domestic tourism.
